Sridhar Chari is a leading percussion player for Indian Classical music in Australia. He has been performing for over the past two decades and has won international acclaim. Rich tonal quality and dynamic improvisation are characteristics of Sridhar's artistry.
Sridhar is a disciple of Sangeetha Kala Acharya Kumbakonam Sri Rajappa Iyer and Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman. Sridhar has had formal training in vocal music and flute playing thus enriching his ability as a dynamic performer.
Sridhar established the Laya Vidhya Centre for Percussion in Melbourne, where he teaches the art to a number of dedicated students. An active member of the Melbourne music community, he takes pride in promoting Indian music in Australia.
